Islip Village Hall
Welcome to the Islip Village
Hall run by volunteers in support of the community.
Facilities include:-
*Main Hall with stage, large screen
projection, bar and seating for up to 150 people.
*Terrace Room with outside
patio, own bar and seating for up to 50 people.
*Parish Room with board table
and seating for up to 12 people.
All events can have access to modern kitchen facilities and the bar by
special arrangement. Attached to
the Village Hall is a large parking area, a children's playground and a
fine view over the sports field.
Our marvellous Village Shop is open daily (except Sunday). The active
Village Club meets twice a week for members and their families. Islip’s Village Hall was built in the
early 1950's but due to poor design it was not used for many years. The
Hall was extensively refurbished in the millennium year and is now a fantastic
community facility. It is
increasingly being used by both residents of Islip and those from
neighbouring communities.
An on-going improvement plan continues now. The catering facilities have
been improved with a new range cooker and large ‘fridge, magnificent
stage curtains have been purchased and the Parish Room is an excellent meeting room with a smart boardroom table
seating twelve.
The range of bookings is vast, from business meetings and toddlers
groups during weekdays, to concerts, plays, parties, keep fit classes,
and wedding receptions. The Village Club Bar is open on Friday evenings
and Sunday afternoons – all welcome and membership is only £3 a year! We
are particularly proud of the Village Shop which is run by a dedicated
team of volunteers.
The Village Hall Committee, chaired currently by Jon Conibear, is a
group of villagers who get together on a monthly basis, with the task of
managing and maintaining the hall and also its fabulous outdoor
recreational space. The aim is to run a variety of village events during
the year, in order to both raise funds for the upkeep of the facilities
and to get everyone together and have fun! Annual events such as the
Summer Fete and Bonfire Night are always well supported, and we continue
to look for new ideas for social activities.
We want to run this facility for the whole village community, so please
let us know your views on the hall and future events you would like to
see organised. Please e-mail me from below.
Planned projects also include a new playground and tennis courts for
which funding is now being sought in conjunction with the Parish
Council.
Please get in touch if you have any suggestions or comments or would
like to get involved in any way in future activities.
